Hey there!
Rebecca Flaherty is an artist, Skillshare Top Teacher and digital content creator based in the UK
From lettering artist & calligrapher to surface pattern designer
I make colourful, cosy patterns and teach you how to turn your doodles into creative magic — with a side of coffee and a few giggles!
I kicked off my online art journey in 2015, selling watercolor wedding printables and hand-lettered place cards.
Back then, making patterns was just a hobby and a thing I did for fun.
But when the pandemic hit in 2020 and weddings were suddenly not a thing, I got a chance to dive headfirst into my illustration and pattern portfolio.
Now, I’m hooked — and I haven’t looked back!
Now I’m lucky enough to teach everything I’ve learned about illustration and surface pattern design on YouTube and as a Top Teacher on Skillshare.
I’m all about working smarter, not harder, so my classes are packed with time-saving tricks and productivity hacks — because who doesn’t want to create awesome art without losing their sanity?
If you’re looking for some extra help with your pattern-making, I’ve got you covered! The Pattern Maker’s Toolkit — a set of tools and resources to make your design process smoother, faster, and way more fun!

making the world a brighter place one pattern at a time
Floral patterns are my absolute favourite things to draw! I love being surrounded by nature and bright colours.

WHEN I'M OFF DUTY
I find it hard to draw the line between work and rest since I love sitting down on the sofa with my iPad to draw — even after the workday is done! I do make time to step away from patterns now and then, usually to walk the dog, or snuggle into my other obsession: knitting. I end up knitting myself a new jumper every few weeks — because why stop at one when you can have a whole wardrobe?
BIGGEST HIGHLIGHT?
Designing place cards for the Game of Thrones Season 7 costume department’s Christmas party. Still fangirling.
BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT?
A shower curtain with my artwork was cast in a Hollywood movie — Poolman, directed by Chris Pine (I know, fancy). I signed the release forms, told my mum, basically planned the red carpet… and then the bathroom scene got cut. Tragic.

I’m a pattern-obsessed perfectionist: If I’m not drawing patterns, I’m probably knitting them. Seriously, I knit myself a new jumper every few weeks — I’m practically a walking sweater factory!
