Rebecca Flaherty is an artist, Skillshare Top Teacher and digital content creator based in the UK

From lettering artist & calligrapher to surface pattern designer

I create colourful patterns with character and texture and teach my students all the tricks I've learned along the way!

I got started in the online art world back in 2015 selling watercolour wedding printables and handwritten calligraphy place cards. Illustration and surface pattern were more of a side hustle back then but when the pandemic hit in 2020, weddings weren’t a thing for a while! I was able to focus solely on my illustration and surface pattern portfolio and I haven’t looked back since!

I am also now privileged to be teaching everything I have learned about illustration and surface pattern design on YouTube and as a Top Teacher over on Skillshare. I am passionate about speedy workflows and automations so my classes all have a focus on productivity whilst creating!

WHEN I'M OFF DUTY

It’s hard to draw the line between work and rest as I still enjoy sitting down on the sofa with my iPad to draw after all the work is done for the day! I occasionally step away from making patterns for long enough to cook something delicious, walk the dog or do a bit of knitting or crochet while I watch a good period drama.
