This week we’re going to make a cute daisy pattern in Procreate! You can either draw your own motifs and choose your own colours, or you can use the ones I used. You can find the palette and stamp brush in the Freebie Library.

This intermediate tutorial will show you the basics of pattern making in Procreate using the diamond repeat method. And the best part is that you’ll have an eye-catching end result to show off! We’ll be using completely non-destructive methods and keeping all our layers intact. This method is the one I use every day for making patterns in Procreate!

In this tutorial you’re going to learn how to make patterns in Procreate using The Pattern Maker Canvas. I’m using the “Vintage Glow” Canvas from the Boho Brights Set.

(You can also make patterns without it. You’ll need to set the diamond sketch layers up yourself first by drawing them in Procreate.)

I keep a copy of it up in my iCloud. That way I can import a fresh one each time I want to make a new pattern. All I need to do is import it and it’s all they’re ready to go.

Instead of using a normal square repeat, we can imagine rotating that square 45 degrees. That’s why we call it a diamond repeat. Your whole tile will still work in the same grid repeat style. Plus, it will have this built in mini diamond repeat within it, almost like a half drop.

If you want a more in depth look at how the diamond repeat works, check out this video too!
