Another week, another Procreate time lapse! This week I made a rainbow coloured leafy pattern. Get inspired by this speedy time lapse and take away useful techniques for creating easy patterns using the diamond method. This design took me about 30 minutes to make and I didn’t plan the design before filming. Until I hit record, I had no idea how it would turn out!! I didn’t want to make the video a full 30 mins (!) but if you want to slow it down to get a closer look, you can always reduce the playback speed!

A different way to add colour and texture

For the leaves I decided to use a white base colour and then add coloured textures over the top, using a clipping mask. If you’re curious as to what brush I used, it was the cosmos brush from Lisa Glanz’s Nitty Gritty bush set, which I LOVE! I’m not sponsored or anything, I just really love her brushes!!

Filming these is a lot easier now that I have a permanent filming area set up in my studio. I’m currently working on a new Skillshare class and it’s so much quicker to leave everything set up and just do a bit here and there! Maybe I’ll do a studio tour video one day…

Let me know if you want to see a Procreate time lapse like this every week! And also if you have any suggestions for what patterns to draw!

This is how I design all my patterns in Procreate. I will always keep a copy of the layers intact and then put the pattern together in Photoshop. (I have a Skillshare class on this if you want to find out more!)
